Why we developed Leadtime

Leadtime originated in the practice of a software studio in the energy sector – developed, tested and optimized on the basis of real challenges.

Digital project business
does not scale very well

Providers of complex technical niche solutions can rarely sell off-the-shelf services. Customers expect individual adaptations, comprehensive service and long-term support. But that requires a lot of personnel.

To get these costs under control, management would have to make the company's internal processes as efficient as possible.

In practice, however, this is easier said than done.

Many tools but
little real control

Digital processes play a central role in the search for greater efficiency – that much is clear. But the market offers an unmanageable abundance of tools: task management, time tracking, CRM systems – many individual solutions that the entrepreneur has to laboriously select and somehow combine. The result is a patchwork of expensive tools that are often only held together by makeshift interfaces. Since constantly switching between different IT systems tends to make everyday work more difficult, employees are reluctant to use the tools and do so inconsistently.

The result: high costs, complexity and inefficiency.

We know the problems
first hand.

We know all these problems from our own experience. We went through exactly that in our original company, a software studio for the energy industry: as soon as we stopped being an agile startup, it became clear that we had to quickly create new structures and processes for our running business. So we started introducing numerous commercial software tools for our internal organization – only to abandon them shortly thereafter. None of them really suited our needs and challenges.

So we built our own ERP system.

From practitioners for professionals.

Leadtime was developed in response to our own growth problems. It is exactly the tool we would have liked to have had ourselves from the very beginning. A holistic system, bursting with well-thought-out functions from practical experience.

Leadtime is the result of fifteen years of practical experience as a bootstrapping entrepreneur in the SaaS sector. During this time, we have used Leadtime's lean methods to build a digital startup from scratch into an organization with fifty employees – financed exclusively from current revenues. Now, we want to make these tools available to other service providers in a completely revised version. The system was developed specifically for digital service companies that have to manage their capacities very carefully. It aims to radically improve the operational effectiveness of the organization by introducing robust, transparent and extremely productive processes.
